Password management is a major issue in large camera estates due to the sheer volume of cameras, servers, time required and the personnel needed to change the passwords.
Cameras constantly being updated or replaced cause further complications. Staff changes in both the customer and supplier likely mean that passwords are not changed in line with policy.
Hacking new HD cameras allows criminals to use them for the opposite purpose for which they were installed. They can zoom in to see people enter credit card details and their pins, the till code that unlocks the till or the password entry into a corporate system. These devices are now in our homes our workplaces and all around us watching everything we do.
To prevent this Senseb4 has developed Edge Secure, to automate the password management of IP security cameras and the video management solutions (VMS) to which they are connected. Whether it is 40 or 40,000 cameras, Edge Secure will reset the passwords for all cameras by auto generating new passwords. Any username or passwords issued by Edge Secure will at the same time be synched with Genetec Omnicast.
Edge Secure will inform you when the cameras password was last changed, 30.60 or 90 days. You can even auto schedule them to be changed in line with your security policy. Most importantly Edge Secure accomplishes this in minutes rather than days or months.
